Finance Lead
As Vanta's Finance Lead, you'll be in charge of finance strategy and operations at Vanta. You will work closely with Vanta’s CEO and have primary responsibility for FP&A, budgeting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, accounting, and other financial operations functions. You’ll also, for now, own day-to-day interactions on legal matters (leveraging and determining outside counsel) and business operations. As Vanta grows, you will hire specialists to take over the functions that are outside of your core FP&A responsibilities.
The key responsibility of this role is ownership of Vanta’s core financial model, which is used to guide our annual plan, performance management, and strategic decision making. You will be the primary finance partner to the CEO in making sound business decisions. In general, you also need to have meaningful business experience and strong business instincts, particularly around enterprise SaaS business models and preferably around data. You’ll also be expected to drive special projects like pricing.

The role
You will...
- Build and own financial systems and controls, including a budget, operating model, and long-term plan
- Perform analysis to support strategic decision-making around resource allocation and prioritization; identify areas for growth and improvement
- Manage and execute cross-functional projects including annual planning, pricing, board presentations
- Perform analysis to inform tactical frameworks such as customer segmentation, sales compensation design, and unit economics
- Partner with the CEO and other leaders to identify key metrics that align with business objectives and set targets to track progress against goals
- Support Vanta’s equity fundraising and investor relations
- Build out finance, biz ops, and other support functions to support growth as company scales
- Handle day-to-day operations, including negotiating the financial terms of leases, insurance, bank lines, etc, interfacing with outside counsel on legal matters
- Oversee the financial and accounting operations of the company (month-close, payroll, billing, A/P, A/R, treasury, tax, equity paperwork), leveraging several outside resources for most of the day-to-day work (bookkeepers, accountants, tax advisors, etc)
You might...
- Have 8+ years of work experience. Ideally, at least 2 years of leadership experience and at least 6 years of experience across finance or business operations in B2B SaaS, consulting or banking, or private equity
- Demonstrate stellar business sense
- Have advanced financial modeling and presentation skills and a comprehensive understanding of P&L, cash flow, unit economics, retention, and upsell
- Understand SaaS metrics, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and financial concepts
- Have experience with financial operations: AR, AP, payroll, etc.
- Show strong communications and a positive attitude, especially when coordinating various stakeholders that may have competing priorities, expectations, and levels of experience

About us
We started by building the simplest way for a company to prepare for a SOC 2 assessment.
We started with SOC 2 because it was the most common way for an internet business to prove its security. In the course of building for SOC 2, we built out a suite of security tools that every internet business needs: laptop management, account monitoring, employee onboarding and offboarding, cloud infrastructure configuration, policy documentation, and more.
Over time, we’ll add additional certifications (HIPAA, ISO27001) and partner with industry experts to bolster the ways a business’ security is proved. We’re just getting started.
Our goal is to demystify internet security to the average person, equipping beginners with sane defaults and growing them into security-savvy principals who can explain how their company protects customer data and why their business is worthy of your trust.
