As a global, fast-growing SaaS company with enterprise customers like Slack, L’Occitane, and Hermès, Typeform must maintain strict compliance and security standards to protect customer data. But keeping up with requirements and regulations while managing risk is a huge undertaking, especially when done manually. “Within a week of starting at Typeform, I realized that we needed something like Vanta to really help us with the security programme,” says Matt Hodge, Senior Director of Technology Operations at Typeform.

Balancing security, compliance, and customer support 

As Typeform grew, they faced significant challenges balancing their security programme while effectively supporting customers. This made it difficult for the team to consistently improve, strengthen their programme, and show executives its value. 

“We really struggled with getting high-quality metrics to gauge the success of our security programme. We were also spending far too much time on mundane tasks, like security audits,” says Matt. For example, when Matt first started at Typeform, the company was in the middle of a SOC 2 audit, which took them almost two months to complete, taking up valuable time that could be spent elsewhere.  

Similarly, Typeform’s support team was bogged down. The team received hundreds of requests monthly for SOC 2 and GDPR documentation, distracting them from other customer needs and impacting their performance. “When I spoke to my counterparts and the rest of the business, we found that we were spending far too much time helping customers access security documentation and answering their questions,” Matt notes.
