Despite existing internal security controls within Fujitsu, FLP needed to demonstrate internationally recognized compliance standards to add credibility to the innovative work of the startups it serves. It decided to pursue ISO 27001. 

Where FLP started: At first, the FLP team tried to work from Fujitsu’s internal security controls, assuming they were close to ISO 27001 readiness. However, those controls weren’t mapped to external standards, revealing gaps between the control requirements of a global enterprise and startups.
