What's New in Vanta 7.30.21

This month we’ve shipped a number of highly visible features, including a new Tests Dashboard, new Vanta security awareness training (SAT), more automated security tests, and new HR integrations. Read on to learn more about what’s new in Vanta this month!

Introducing the Tests Dashboard

The Tasks page is now the Tests Dashboard. We’ve revamped this highly used page to make it even more informative and actionable. In a glance, quickly understand your company’s security posture, spot shifts in performance, and recognize progress made towards getting compliant.

New Tests Dashboard

Tests are now organized by category, so your team can easily view and navigate tests by their subject area, such as engineering or employee tests. Now, your head of engineering has a focused list of engineering action items, while your head of people can filter down to view only employee items that need attention.

New Security Awareness Training (SAT)

Vanta now offers free security awareness training developed in partnership with Living Security. With this release, Vanta’s security awareness training is housed directly within the Vanta client, so that your employees may view and complete the 30min video without having to leave the Vanta onboarding page.

New (free) Security Awareness Training

Vanta’s SAT video covers various information security topics including:

Reporting Suspicious Activity, Passwords, Password Managers, MFA, Malware, Ransomware, Phishing, Work From Home (WFH), Mobile Security, Cloud Security Threats, Policy Violations, Data Classification, and Data Privacy

Vanta admins can select this free option from within the onboarding settings page. We recommend not making this change during an audit window, but in case a change is made, Vanta maintains all prior evidence of SAT completion. Previous SAT options are also still available (ESET, Cybrary, and Custom) and new tool-tips explain the differences between these options.

New Tests, Integrations, and Improvements

Tests

The following Tests have been rolled out to further automate security and compliance:

  • Check for MFA enabled for Bitbucket, Clubhouse, Github, Heroku, and Slack
  • Check for screen lock enabled for Windows Agent and Intune
  • Check that AWS EC2 Instances, GCP Compute Instances, and DigitalOcean Droplets are closed to public ports

Integrations

The following Integrations have been rolled out to make onboarding and offboarding employees easier:

  • ADP Workforce Now
  • Paychex Flex

Plus, a historical record of onboarding checklists for offboarded employees is now accessible within Vanta.

Documents Tab Improvements

The Documents tab now supports restricted evidence so that only admins and auditors may upload or download these sensitive documents. This restriction is automatically placed on uploaded background checks, employee exit interviews, org charts, and board notes.

New Restricted Documents Option

As always, we welcome your feedback on these changes! Please let us know what you think by reaching out to your Customer Success Manager.
