Meet Krista and Alex!
Krista is a Sr. Customer Success Manager serving the APAC region. Originally from San Diego, Krista joined Vanta in August 2021 and moved to Sydney as part of the company’s international expansion.
Serving customers alongside Krista is Alex, who joined Vanta in May 2022 as a Customer Success Manager. He’s focused on making sure customers have everything they need to get the most out of Vanta and help them along their compliance journey.
Tell us about the team.
Krista: We’re a small but mighty team that’s continuously growing and working together to make an impression on the APAC market. Living in the same place as the customers we serve means we can help them move quickly. When customers in-region need support, they can get in touch with their CSM during normal working hours instead of waiting a day or two. We’re also better able to understand their specific needs that may differ from the US or European markets.
I love opening a new market for Vanta. It’s a huge learning and growth opportunity, and we have a really special team dynamic here in Sydney. We’re all growing together—professionally, and personally, along with the business.
Alex: We have a really strong team culture. Since we’re still small, everyone has a lot of influence and say. We also work very closely with the Sales team here, being in the same office. We’ve developed smooth implementation processes and in some cases, we’ll join sales calls so customers have already met their CSM when they sign on.
Being able to provide in-region support to our customers is incredible. Compliance, especially if you’re going through it for the first time, can be hard to understand so having a local presence enables us to set customers up for success. It means they no longer have to wake up at 6am to speak with someone for help.
Why did you choose Vanta over other companies?
Krista: One of my close friends worked at Vanta and raved about the company. She loved the company culture and encouraged me to apply. Working at a company with women on the leadership team was important to me. Vanta is the first real tech company I’ve worked at and I’ve learned so much from our CEO, Christina.
Alex: The space was appealing because security and compliance are a really hot topic in Australia after all the data breaches lately. As a CSM, Vanta is the perfect platform to work with. I get to partner with companies as they grow, laying the foundation for a strong security program and helping them unlock growth. Vanta was also in the sweet spot for me in terms of headcount and I wanted to work for Christina.
What is your favorite thing about working at Vanta?
Krista: The culture. I’ve had the opportunity to grow and learn so much remotely and also connect with the team in person multiple times a year, from a Customer Success retreat in Lake Tahoe to a company-wide trip to Palm Springs and our RKO (Revenue Kickoff) in Austin earlier this year. These events really bring the whole Vanta team together.
Alex: I love the platform. Vanta lays out exactly what you need to do, so when I work with customers, they’re able to learn more quickly. Because of how strong our product is, I’m not worried about delivering a poor customer experience.
What excites you about Vanta’s product?
Krista: Compared to other companies I’ve worked at, I’m impressed by how quickly we update the product and grow. I’ve never been part of a company that implements feedback right away. Our product team actually listens to the feedback that CSMs are getting from customers to improve the product. It shows customers that we care, and it means the product is never stagnant.
Alex: I’m excited about Vanta moving beyond an audit-readiness vehicle. SOC 2 and ISO 27001 demonstrate that you know how to follow a list, but they don’t show you how to implement a security program that lasts. As a trust management platform, Vanta is helping companies get and stay secure rather than just demonstrating it once.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Krista: So many places! Before COVID, I had Norway, Switzerland, and Denmark at the top of my travel list. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to explore these beautiful countries yet. I’ve done a lot of traveling previously and then COVID happened, but moving to Australia has been the coolest travel experience yet.
Alex: Korea. I like experiencing new cultures and the idea of learning a new language or throwing yourself into the deep end, especially after the pandemic. And there’s good food.
