Slush 2021: Vanta takes the international stage
We’re excited to share that Vanta will be making our first international conference appearance at Slush 2021 in Helsinki, Finland on Dec 1st and 2nd. Slush is the world’s leading startup event and is considered the most founder-focused conference in the world. As Europe's largest gathering of venture capitalists, there are expected to be over 1500 investors in attendance.
Sustainability is a priority at Slush and it is recognized as EcoCompass certified. The goal is to minimize the annual environmental footprint and one way of making that happen is to harness the power of young companies in pursuit of progress. Slush identifies this movement as the "Entrepreneurial Renaissance," with the belief that entrepreneurs who are building scalable solutions will be at the core of the solution for a better future.
Slush is extremely particular about those they invite to speak at their forum. They gauge invitees by one predominant metric: What concrete advice can the speaker bring to the table? The result creates a dissection of people who have built some of the most successful companies on the planet.
This year, Vanta CEO Christina Cacioppo will be taking the Founder Stage with Andrew Reed, Partner at Sequoia. They will discuss the first foundational steps for taking a product from nothing to something. Christina has spent her career backing early stage startups at Union Square Ventures, taking Dropbox to market, and now as founder and CEO of the leading security monitoring startup, Vanta.
At Slush, Christina will break down the phases of a startup’s growth: build a product, reach product-market fit, then grow. Early stage ventures often find themselves in some combination of the first two steps. That, according to Christina, is also where startups tend to fail. In her fireside discussion with Andrew, she’ll share how to take a product through the first few steps of a startup's evolution, how to avoid blockers, and anecdotes about her own personal startup journey.
Vanta provides global security
Though this is Christina’s first foray into the international stage, this isn’t Vanta’s first global reach. Since 2016, Vanta has been restoring faith in internet business by automating security monitoring for compliance certifications like SOC 2, HIPAA, and ISO 27001.
Most recently, Vanta premiered two more security standards, including GDPR compliance solution and PCI DSS compliance automation. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a set of standards adopted by the European Union and United Kingdom to protect the personal data and privacy of residents. Vanta’s solution includes step-by-step guidance on how to get and remain GDPR compliant, including 77 controls and 22 legal-vetted policy templates.
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a global set of standard requirements that applies to any business that accepts, processes, stores, transmits, or impacts the security of cardholder data. Vanta’s PCI DSS helps you identify the right level of certification for your business, automates evidence collection, and then continuously monitors for security compliance.

PCI Compliance Selection Guide
Determine Your PCI Compliance Level
If your organization processes, stores, or transmits cardholder data, you must comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), a global mandate created by major credit card companies. Compliance is mandatory for any business that accepts credit card payments.
When establishing strategies for implementing and maintaining PCI compliance, your organization needs to understand what constitutes a Merchant or Service Provider, and whether a Self Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) or Report on Compliance (ROC) is most applicable to your business.
Answer a few short questions and we’ll help identify your compliance level.
Does your business offer services to customers who are interested in your level of PCI compliance?
Identify your PCI SAQ or ROC level
The PCI Security Standards Council has established the below criteria for Merchant and Service Provider validation. Use these descriptions to help determine the SAQ or ROC that best applies to your organization.
Good news! Vanta supports all of the following compliance levels:
A SAQ A is required for Merchants that do not require the physical presence of a credit card (like an eCommerce, mail, or telephone purchase). This means that the Merchant’s business has fully outsourced all cardholder data processing to PCI DSS compliant third party Service Providers, with no electronic storage, processing, or transmission of any cardholder data on the Merchant’s system or premises.
Get PCI DSS certified
A SAQ A-EP is similar to a SAQ A, but is a requirement for Merchants that don't receive cardholder data, but control how cardholder data is redirected to a PCI DSS validated third-party payment processor.

A SAQ D includes over 200 requirements and covers the entirety of PCI DSS compliance. If you are a Service Provider, a SAQ D is the only SAQ you’re eligible to complete.
Use our PCI checklist
A Report on Compliance (ROC) is an annual assessment that determines your organization’s ability to protect cardholder data. If you’re a Merchant that processes over six million transactions annually or a Service Provider that processes more than 300,000 transactions annually, your organization is responsible for both a ROC and an Attestation of Compliance (AOC).
