We launched a community on Slack! If you work in security or compliance, you know why this matters.
Change is constant in this industry. There are always new frameworks, new regulations, new board questions, and new expectations from your customers.
And while tools help, what often makes the biggest difference is something else entirely: access to other people who’ve been there before. Someone who’s figured out how to scope that audit. Someone who’s operationalized that framework. Someone who can say, “Here’s what worked for us.”
The Vanta Community, powered by Slack and Tightknit, exists so industry practitioners can connect with others who understand the nuance and pressure of the role. It provides a mix of product and professional growth opportunities, giving members access to peers, SMEs, and all the latest product announcements.
To mark the launch, we sat down with Jacob Gross, Vanta’s Senior Program Manager, Digital Community, to talk about what this space is designed to unlock for customers and how it will evolve alongside the people inside it.
Here’s what he had to say.
What is the Vanta Community?
Jacob: The Vanta Community is a shared space for Vanta customers to connect with each other, the Vanta team, and fellow security, compliance, and trust management professionals. The goal is to provide a space for like-minded peers who are building and operating trust management programs at every stage.
Why should someone join the Vanta Community?
Our customers always tell us they want practical value, fast. They want a place to ask, “How are you actually doing this?” and get real answers from people who’ve already solved it. That’s what this community is all about.
It’s a place where practitioners can connect with people who are doing the same work. It’s where you can share what you’re learning, swap ideas, and get unstuck on trust management challenges together. The goal is simple: help teams move faster, stay compliant, and build trust—without everyone having to figure it out from scratch.
Can anyone join?
The Vanta Community is primarily designed for Vanta customers who are actively using Vanta and want to connect with peers, share best practices, and learn from real-world experiences. It’s a natural extension of the customer experience that connects people to product insights, real-world use cases, and the broader industry conversations shaping security and compliance.
We also offer limited access to prospective customers who are actively evaluating Vanta. This provides an opportunity to meet and hear directly from current customers, ask candid questions, and better understand how teams are approaching security and compliance in practice. Our goal is to support prospects in making informed decisions by facilitating authentic, peer-to-peer conversations.
To maintain the integrity and trust of the community, participation guidelines and access levels will vary depending on membership type.
What makes the Vanta Community different?
First and foremost, this is where GRC professionals find their people and level up their careers. The community is built around four values, which are an extension of our own company principles:
- Trust: It’s a forum for honest, practitioner-led dialogue. It’s a place to openly discuss challenges and learn from each other without pretense.
- Curiosity: Members are encouraged to ask questions, explore new approaches, and stay ahead of what’s changing across frameworks, regulators, and technologies.
- Connection: Members aren’t just reading threads. They build relationships with peers who understand the pressure and complexity of the role.
- Ownership: The direction of the community isn’t dictated from the top down—it’s shaped by the members inside it, through the conversations they start and the expertise they contribute. If members want deeper discussions on emerging regulations, more operator roundtables, or hands-on product walkthroughs, that momentum will naturally steer what we prioritize. There are also clear feedback loops built within the experience, whether that be about the Vanta product or the Community experience overall.
Is the Vanta Community a place for sales pitches?
The Vanta Community is not the place for sales pitches, and our guidelines and moderation policies reflect that. This is a place for thoughtful conversations grounded in real experience.
In security and compliance, you’re often dealing with sensitive topics: gaps, audit findings, regulator pressure, and internal friction. We know that people won’t share openly unless they trust the room.
How do I join the Vanta Community?
Current and prospective customers can request to join here.
If you’re an existing customer, here’s how I recommend you get started:
- Step 1: Start by introducing yourself in the #intros channel. Share your role and the frameworks you’re working on so the right peers find you. By doing so, you’ll earn your first badge: Vanta Community Member. It’s a shareable milestone you can proudly highlight with your network (like this!).
- Step 2: Drop into the #grc-world channel and share one GRC resource you’ve found helpful or comment on someone else’s post.
- Step 3: Connect with a few peers who are in similar roles or at a similar stage. The real power of the community isn’t just the threads, it’s the relationships behind them.
From there, you’ll be ready to dive into industry resources, practical discussions, shared templates, event invites, and insights you can actually put to work.
If you are a prospective Vanta customer, you’ll have access to the #ask-a-customer channel. There, you can meet current customers and get your questions answered about how your peers are getting the most out of the Vanta platform.
Do I have to create a Slack account?
Yes. Once you are invited to the Community and have created your account, you can engage on Slack or view some of the community’s conversations and content on the public-facing companion site. For the full experience, it is recommended that you default to using Slack.
Any final thoughts about the Vanta Community?
Earning trust isn’t just about passing an audit or implementing a tool—it’s about sharing knowledge, staying ahead of changing expectations, and building smarter, more resilient security programs over time.
The Vanta Community gives practitioners a space to share how they’re doing that in the real world. When our customers learn from each other, they’re better equipped to build trust faster and prove it to their own teams and customers with confidence.
The doors are open, and the conversation is live. See you there!
