Signeasy achieves SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance with Vanta

Signeasy achieves SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance with Vanta

Signeasy: Built for fast-growing businesses that value efficiency

Signeasy is a leading eSignature and contract workflow solution for businesses to sign, send, and manage documents across devices. Available in 180 countries, it is currently used by over 48,000 businesses worldwide. It also has powerful integrations with Google Workspace, Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, and more.

Signeasy’s success is easy to understand. It’s easy to use and secure. Every modern company, regardless of industry or product, needs a way to manage digital documentation. A SaaS product designed to electronically receive, send, and store sensitive information inherently demands strict security protocols.

Life before compliance

As the company grew bigger, Signeasy doubled down its efforts on compliance to give its customers best-in-class standards as part of its product experience. They have always been a secure organization but didn’t always have validation to offer prospects. With SOC 2 and HIPAA, Signeasy could ensure peace of mind for their existing customers, serve bigger businesses, and bring their time-tested eSignature product to newer markets.

Beyond The Big Four

Before Vanta, traditional solutions were the only way to build a serious compliance program. To get the ball rolling, this generally means picking an auditing company out of a hat, and that’s exactly what Signeasy did—at first.

The name that came out of the hat was one of “The Big Four” auditing companies. They bring with them brand prestige, high-quality assurance, and years of experience. At first glance, one can clearly see the appeal. The Big Four (even The Big Eight) may not add up to the best option for everyone, especially a fast-growing company like Signeasy. The need for personalization, resource limitations, and internal bandwidth are all variables that must be considered when looking at a leading auditor.

Signeasy needed a vendor who understood their pace and the customers they were working with. This led them to look for a better way, one that was a clear, streamlined road to compliance without extensive chores and little guidance.

Finding a tailor-made compliance solution

CTO Souvik Dutta and Head of Compliance and Information Technology, Bineeta Mitra, ultimately turned to Vanta to pursue SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance. Vanta’s ability to match Signeasy with the right auditor was a differentiating factor. After getting a SOC 2 Type I report with Vanta, Signeasy was able to get a SOC 2 Type II report in record time in addition to HIPAA. Signeasy partnered with Vanta in March 2021. They secured SOC 2 Type I compliance in May and Type II in October.

Vanta’s platform provides Bineeta and her team with a centralized home for evidence collection, task assignments, and compliance monitoring. Signeasy regularly leans into Vanta’s customer success team to guide them through audits, advocate for their needs, and communicate product updates.

Without Vanta, Signeasy would still be maintaining compliance and security through manual processes. Most importantly, Signeasy is able to quickly share its security posture with prospects from one centralized hub. From end to end, Vanta has enabled Signeasy to create and maintain a modern compliance program that helps them better serve customers and adhere to best-in-class protocols.

PCI Compliance Selection Guide

Determine Your PCI Compliance Level

If your organization processes, stores, or transmits cardholder data, you must comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), a global mandate created by major credit card companies. Compliance is mandatory for any business that accepts credit card payments.

When establishing strategies for implementing and maintaining PCI compliance, your organization needs to understand what constitutes a Merchant or Service Provider, and whether a Self Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) or Report on Compliance (ROC) is most applicable to your business.

Answer a few short questions and we’ll help identify your compliance level.

Identify your PCI SAQ or ROC level

The PCI Security Standards Council has established the below criteria for Merchant and Service Provider validation. Use these descriptions to help determine the SAQ or ROC that best applies to your organization.

Good news! Vanta supports all of the following compliance levels:

SAQ A

A SAQ A is required for Merchants that do not require the physical presence of a credit card (like an eCommerce, mail, or telephone purchase). This means that the Merchant’s business has fully outsourced all cardholder data processing to PCI DSS compliant third party Service Providers, with no electronic storage, processing, or transmission of any cardholder data on the Merchant’s system or premises.

Get PCI DSS certified

SAQ A-EP

A SAQ A-EP is similar to a SAQ A, but is a requirement for Merchants that don't receive cardholder data, but control how cardholder data is redirected to a PCI DSS validated third-party payment processor.

SAQ D
for service providers

A SAQ D includes over 200 requirements and covers the entirety of PCI DSS compliance. If you are a Service Provider, a SAQ D is the only SAQ you’re eligible to complete.

ROC
Level 1 for service providers

A Report on Compliance (ROC) is an annual assessment that determines your organization’s ability to protect cardholder data. If you’re a Merchant that processes over six million transactions annually or a Service Provider that processes more than 300,000 transactions annually, your organization is responsible for both a ROC and an Attestation of Compliance (AOC).
