What a month it’s been here at Vanta! We launched two new products, PCI DSS and GDPR. If your business is innovating in fintech or payments – you’ll want to attend our upcoming PCI Webinar. If your company has, or is looking to attract more, EU or UK customers, then our GDPR solution is a must-have heading into 2022.

The Vanta platform also received big updates this month, including the launch of recurring security awareness training, automatic employee reminder emails, a revamped Vanta Help Center, new integrations, and more. Read on to learn more about what’s new this month!

New products: PCI DSS and GDPR

Vanta now supports PCI DSS and GDPR compliance!

PCI DSS is centered on protecting customer cardholder data and is a perfect fit for any business innovating in fintech, payments, insurance, or lending. Our PCI DSS product automates over half of the evidence collection work needed to prove compliance, and if you’re an existing SOC2 customer, then you’re more than halfway done with proving PCI DSS compliance. GDPR is all about protecting the personal data and privacy of EU and UK residents. If your business collects, targets, or processes data related to people in the EU or UK, then you’re required to be GDPR compliant. Vanta’s GDPR solution includes step-by-step guidance on how to get and remain GDPR compliant, including 77 controls and 22 legal-vetted policy templates. Plus, for existing SOC2 or ISO 27001 customers, you’re nearly halfway there to proving GDPR compliance. Learn more on GDPR

Recurring Security Awareness Training

Security awareness trainings help your employees stay informed about best security practices. A good security training program refreshes regularly so your organization has the most up to date knowledge and remains compliant. Vanta now helps you manage a dynamic security program with annual trainings.

Employees will automatically be reminded to complete their required training beginning 10-months after their previous completion date – giving your organization ample time to get trained-up and remain in good standing.

Automatic Email Reminders for Employees

No one likes chasing down employees to remind them to complete required tasks like security awareness training – so now Vanta does that for you!

This new feature is automatically set to ‘never’, but when enabled, employees will automatically be reminded of overdue tasks related to security trainings, Vanta Agent installations, background check completions, and policy acceptances. So long Slack pings about incomplete onboarding!

Renewed Vanta Help Center

We’ve completely revamped the Vanta Help Center to make it even easier to get the most out of Vanta. Within the new help center, you’ll find upcoming and previously recorded webinars, tips on using Vanta, FAQs, and a clear way to contact our support team.

You now have easy access to our entire collection of help articles on topics including, getting started, audit readiness, employee management, resource management, using integrations, and managing tests within Vanta. Give the new Vanta Help Center a visit!

The ultimate guide to scaling your compliance program

PCI Compliance Selection Guide

Determine Your PCI Compliance Level

If your organization processes, stores, or transmits cardholder data, you must comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), a global mandate created by major credit card companies. Compliance is mandatory for any business that accepts credit card payments.

When establishing strategies for implementing and maintaining PCI compliance, your organization needs to understand what constitutes a Merchant or Service Provider, and whether a Self Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) or Report on Compliance (ROC) is most applicable to your business.

Answer a few short questions and we’ll help identify your compliance level.

Identify your PCI SAQ or ROC level

The PCI Security Standards Council has established the below criteria for Merchant and Service Provider validation. Use these descriptions to help determine the SAQ or ROC that best applies to your organization.

Good news! Vanta supports all of the following compliance levels:

SAQ A

A SAQ A is required for Merchants that do not require the physical presence of a credit card (like an eCommerce, mail, or telephone purchase). This means that the Merchant’s business has fully outsourced all cardholder data processing to PCI DSS compliant third party Service Providers, with no electronic storage, processing, or transmission of any cardholder data on the Merchant’s system or premises.

Get PCI DSS certified

SAQ A-EP

A SAQ A-EP is similar to a SAQ A, but is a requirement for Merchants that don't receive cardholder data, but control how cardholder data is redirected to a PCI DSS validated third-party payment processor.

SAQ D
for service providers

A SAQ D includes over 200 requirements and covers the entirety of PCI DSS compliance. If you are a Service Provider, a SAQ D is the only SAQ you’re eligible to complete.

Use our PCI checklist

ROC
Level 1 for service providers

A Report on Compliance (ROC) is an annual assessment that determines your organization’s ability to protect cardholder data. If you’re a Merchant that processes over six million transactions annually or a Service Provider that processes more than 300,000 transactions annually, your organization is responsible for both a ROC and an Attestation of Compliance (AOC).
