What's New in Vanta 6.30.21

Documents tab, new and improved tests, and better employee offboarding

Today we’re releasing several big improvements to Vanta. As always, thank you for your feedback as we work to make Vanta the best solution to stay secure and compliant. Here’s what’s new:

Documents tab for uploaded evidence

Vanta automatically collects the vast majority of the evidence you’ll need to complete a SOC 2, HIPAA, or ISO 27001. However, there are some additional documents, such as your org chart or privacy policy, that you’ll need to provide. We’ve made it easy to upload these documents and URLs directly to Vanta, so you and your auditor can access everything you’ll need to prove compliance in one place.

Simply click on the Documents tab on the Tasks page. There you’ll find a list of the most commonly requested pieces of evidence to upload. Upload your documents, add links, and mark any irrelevant items as inapplicable. Now, all of your automated and uploaded pieces of evidence live within Vanta.

New and improved tests

Vanta automates compliance and security monitoring by running tests on your company’s most critical business tools – such as cloud services, identity providers, dev tools, and HR systems. Vanta integrates directly with these services via read-only APIs and runs hourly tests to verify their security settings, access controls, and functionality.

Because tests are core to how Vanta enables security, we continue to launch new tests to support even more business tools and standards, such as ISO 27001 and HIPAA. To that effect, we’ve recently added over 40 new tests, including:

• ISO 27001 and HIPAA tests for screen lock via Kandji (Apple devices)
• Improved employee off-boarding tests to ensure accounts are properly deprovisioned
• New tests to ensure MFA is enabled for services monitored by Vanta
• Support of and improvements to several integrations, including: Digital Ocean, Kandji, GitLab, Azure Devops, and several HR tools
• New tests to ensure that a code review is required to commit changes to the main branch

In addition, we looked closely at the tests Vanta already runs to find ways to improve them. In result, we’ve enhanced the behavior and instructions of over 100 tests to speed up and simplify the compliance process. Many of these changes are already in-product with future updates rolling out monthly to keep Vanta updated and your business secure.

Improved employee on/off–boarding

Vanta gives you one place to track critical employee onboarding tasks like background checks and security training. Vanta also makes it easy to verify that employees have been properly deprovisioned when they leave. And as we recently announced, we now integrate with many major HR systems to streamline employee on/off–boarding processes.

In addition to these new HR integrations, we’ve made it easier to manage your employees’ security settings within Vanta. Now, you can see all of the devices associated with each employee right from the People page. And one small, but frequently requested, feature is now supported – you can export all of the information from the People and Computers pages as CSV for any external workflows.
