Meet Christian! 👋

I’m Christian - I lead our Finance Team here and I’ve been at Vanta since April 2021. We’ve grown so much in nine months. It’s been a crazy and fun ride! Outside of work, I’m a huge sports fan - both love to play (on a softball team in SF) and watch (particularly Bay Area sports teams).

Tell us about your role at Vanta

I lead finance here at Vanta and was the first finance hire. We’re still early in defining what finance should be, but we now have a team of four. Our goal is to first build a foundation for our systems, processes, and people; then leverage that foundation to drive actionable insights for the business.

What made you realize this was the right career field for you?

I’m weirdly passionate about numbers. I also enjoy helping influence business decisions at a high level — seeing how the business is operating and helping move it in the right direction.

Why did you decide to choose Vanta over other companies?

Most importantly, the people and culture. Previously, I had been at the same company for seven years and leaving in the middle of Covid-19 was intimidating. A remote environment can be a challenge. I prioritized joining a team that had a welcoming culture and an incredible team around me that I both enjoy working with and that challenges me everyday. Vanta has struck that balance incredibly well. The mission and vision resonated and solved a deep pain point for a lot of customers. And, from a financially biased perspective, I wanted to see a business that was executing well on its goals, growing quickly, and had a promising trajectory.

Why are you excited about Vanta’s mission?

Security is such an important building block for all companies to be focused on and Vanta is in an amazing spot to level the playing field. Previously, there was a high barrier to entry that made it really difficult to be secure and (non-trivially) to prove that you’re secure. Vanta makes security accessible to help all companies big and small achieve important goals surrounding security and compliance.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Machu Picchu. It seems like an absolutely gorgeous mix of historical architecture and natural beauty. Maybe even see a llama (alpaca?) first hand.
