To celebrate Black History Month, we hosted company wide virtual events and challenges for our Vantans.
Scavenger hunt
We started off the month with a scavenger hunt for household items that were invented by African Americans. Below are the items we asked Vantans to search for and their inventors:
- Hairbrush invented by Lyda Newman
- Potato chips invented by George Crum
- Ironing board invented by Sarah Boone
The winners of our scavenger hunt won prizes purchased from small black owned businesses. Check them out below!
- Jigsaw puzzles and other goodies from Timeless Goods, where a portion of their puzzle sales are donated to Black Girls Code
- Hot sauce from Sienna’s Sauce
- Candles and aromatherapy from Soyful Aromas
- Coffee from Blk and Bold who pledge 5% of their profits to initiatives aligned with sustaining youth programming, enhancing workforce development, and eradicating youth homelessness
Trivia
In true Vanta fashion, we hosted a Black History Month Trivia event. The winning team was the Drama Llamas! Huge thanks to AvoNow and TriviaHub for hosting.
Guest Speaker: DB Bedford
We were honored to have DB Bedford, CEO and founder of iNeverWorry Consulting, speak to Vantans about Emotional Intelligence (EI). DB led an inspirational talk about the importance of EI and how to utilize EI to live a worry-free life. DB is the author of the books iNeverWorry, EI Secrets, and Black Intelligence. In addition to the session with DB, Vantans also received a copy of his Black Intelligence book.
Culture cookie
To close off Black History Month, we have partnered with Culture Cookies, a black owned business on a mission to enhance cultural awareness one bite at a time. Our Vantans received a culture cookie and culture card with information about Black history.
