Vanta hosts first company retreat: Palm Springs 2022

During the first week of May, Vanta hosted its first ever company retreat in Palm Springs, CA. Our fast-growing team came together, both in-person and remote, to mingle, get inspired, and hear from Vanta’s leaders about the future of the company.

Day 1

Welcome celebration and masterclasses

To kick things off, team leaders shared team accomplishments, organizational updates, and future aspirations for the company. After lunch, Vantans broke off into groups to take masterclasses taught by our very own in-house experts. Courses included:

  • Intro to Wine Tasting
  • Taylor Swift: The Icon Through Her Eras
  • Drone Photography 101
  • Personal Finance and Investment Strategy
  • Cumbia Social Dancing

Vanta’s origin story

Later that evening, Founder and CEO Christina Cacioppo gave an in-depth presentation of Vanta’s origin story followed by a mountain-side outdoor dinner reception. Since this was our first large gathering, attendees were randomly assigned seats to encourage cross-team conversations.

Day 2

Updated guiding principles and team bonding

After breakfast and another round of masterclasses, Vantans gathered to hear about our  refreshed guiding principles. These updates mark a critical turning point for the entire company. Leaders from each team spoke about how the principles resonate with their goals and aspirations. Teams ventured off later in the day to participate in a handful of activities such as Mixology 101, Jeep off-roading to the San Andreas Fault, and a happy hour hosted by one of our partners, Rhymetec

Awards and karaoke

During dinner, seven Vantans were recognized by team leaders for their dedication to each of the new core principles. Celebrations extended long into the night with top-notch karaoke performances featuring iconic songs such as “I Want It That Way,” "Sweet Caroline” (ba ba ba!), and “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Day 3

Sequoia Q&A and departure

Christina held a Q+A with Sequoia Investor Andrew Reed which led to an insightful and engaging discussion. They talked about why Sequoia decided to invest and how Vanta was able to grow so quickly in recent years. Finally, after a few days of fun-filled activities, team bonding, and meaningful conversations, our retreat came to an end.

A huge thank you to our Internal Events team for organizing an amazing retreat. Interested in working at Vanta? Check out our Careers page to see our open roles.

PCI Compliance Selection Guide

Determine Your PCI Compliance Level

If your organization processes, stores, or transmits cardholder data, you must comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), a global mandate created by major credit card companies. Compliance is mandatory for any business that accepts credit card payments.

When establishing strategies for implementing and maintaining PCI compliance, your organization needs to understand what constitutes a Merchant or Service Provider, and whether a Self Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) or Report on Compliance (ROC) is most applicable to your business.

Answer a few short questions and we’ll help identify your compliance level.

Does your business offer services to customers who are interested in your level of PCI compliance?

Identify your PCI SAQ or ROC level

The PCI Security Standards Council has established the below criteria for Merchant and Service Provider validation. Use these descriptions to help determine the SAQ or ROC that best applies to your organization.

Good news! Vanta supports all of the following compliance levels:

SAQ A

A SAQ A is required for Merchants that do not require the physical presence of a credit card (like an eCommerce, mail, or telephone purchase). This means that the Merchant’s business has fully outsourced all cardholder data processing to PCI DSS compliant third party Service Providers, with no electronic storage, processing, or transmission of any cardholder data on the Merchant’s system or premises.

Get PCI DSS certified

SAQ A-EP

A SAQ A-EP is similar to a SAQ A, but is a requirement for Merchants that don't receive cardholder data, but control how cardholder data is redirected to a PCI DSS validated third-party payment processor.

SAQ D
for service providers

A SAQ D includes over 200 requirements and covers the entirety of PCI DSS compliance. If you are a Service Provider, a SAQ D is the only SAQ you’re eligible to complete.

Use our PCI checklist

ROC
Level 1 for service providers

A Report on Compliance (ROC) is an annual assessment that determines your organization’s ability to protect cardholder data. If you’re a Merchant that processes over six million transactions annually or a Service Provider that processes more than 300,000 transactions annually, your organization is responsible for both a ROC and an Attestation of Compliance (AOC).
